On Friday, Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller, along with the Premier Doug Ford and Natural Resources and Forestry Minister Jeff Yurek visited the Britt Command Centre to see first-hand how Parry Sound 33 forest fire is being fought.
Miller said “It is awful to see this fire devastate a large part of Parry Sound District and displace so many residents and cottagers.”
Yesterday Miller asked the Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry about what is being done to fight the forest fires including Parry Sound 33. Miller also took the opportunity to thank the firefighters working across Northern Ontario and honour Jerry Gadwa, the firefighter from Alberta who died while fighting a fire near Red Lake, Ontario.
Minister Yurek, said that there are firefighters from other provinces, the United States and Mexico working together to fight the numerous fires across Northern Ontario. He also said that his Ministry is looking at allowing retired rangers to come back on the job temporarily during this particularly bad forest fire season.
