Liberals Plan to Further Tax Ontarians
QUEEN’S PARK – The Wynne government plans to hit home buyers with a massive new tax grab by allowing all municipalities to charge a Municipal Land Transfer Tax.
“The Ontario PC Caucus is strongly opposed to this home-ownership tax. The Liberal government continues to burden Ontario families with one tax after another. This tax would make home ownership simply unaffordable for many families in Ontario” stated MPP Yurek.
On December 3rd PC Deputy Leader, Steve Clark, will put forth a Private Member’s Motion to stop the government from imposing any new municipal land transfer taxes. The proposed new land transfer tax would double the current taxes to over $10,000. This tax would cost the economy an estimated $2.3 billion and 15,000 jobs.
“Under this new tax Ontario will become the most uncompetitive tax jurisdiction in North America when it comes to buying a new home. I have heard from many constituents and I will be supporting MPP Steve Clark’s motion on December 3rd.” concluded MPP Jeff Yurek.
