QUEEN’S PARK –This morning York Regional Police officers shot and killed a black bear that for the past couple days has been spotted wandering Newmarket, Ontario.
“Minister Mauro needs to investigate the failure of his Ministry in dealing with this situation,” said MPP Yurek, Ontario PC Critic for Natural Resources and Forestry. “The MNR knew about the bear sightings on the weekend and were informed early this morning on its location but could not respond in an appropriate time frame. Unfortunately the failure of the MNR decreased public safety and downloaded the costs of his Ministry to the municipalities.”
The York Regional Police officers were forced to shoot the bear to ensure public safety.
