(London, ON) – MPP Jeff Yurek joined MPP Lisa MacLeod yesterday at London Central Library to host a roundtable on education.
Representatives from the local school boards, the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance, the London Anti-Bullying Coalition, and members of Independent School Bus Operators Association met to provide critical information on the issues facing Ontario’s education system.
“It was a very dynamic panel and we were able to hear many different perspectives,” said MPP Yurek, “it’s important that we as politicians hear from all sides if we are going to undertake the thoughtful action that the people of Ontario expect of us.”
Many topics were discussed in the three hour roundtable. Issues such as school board accountability, student guidance, student bullying, and bussing procurement were all discussed in detail. MPP MacLeod – the PC Critic for Education – is currently conducting similar townhalls across the province to gather information and propose solutions.
“I support my colleague,” said Yurek, “she is committed to formulating responsible policy that will address a number of the issues we heard about at the roundtable. I will continue to support her and the PC Party’s efforts to ensure our children have access to only the very best education.”
